M AXINE H ONG K INGSTON … AKA: Maxine Ting Ting Hong, Ting Ting Hong, Maxine Ting Ting Hong Kingston, and Maxine H. Kingston. She was born on October 27, 1940 in Stockton, California. The eldest of six children born in the United States. She attended the University of California, Berkley. Which she graduated from in Married to the actor Earll Kingston. The couple have a son named Joseph Lawrence Chung Mei. Widely known to be an activist and feminist.
G ET TO THE K NOW THE F AMILY Maxine’s father, Tom Hong, was a calligrapher, poet, and teacher in his village of Sun Woi. Her mother, Ying Lan (Chew) Hong (Brave Orchid) was a midwife from Canton. After Ying was illegally brought to the U.S., she and Tom moved to California. Father’s side: Grandmother Ah Po, Grandfather Ah Goong, uncle Dai Bak, uncle Sahm Bak, Ngee Bak, and the unnamed aunt Mother’s side: aunt Moon Orchid, the outside grandpartents, Modern aunt, cousins, and an unnamed uncle.
