1 Six-Way 87 The Titanic The word “unsinkable” sunk the Titanic. How? a. 不會沉的 v. 使下沉 (sink-sunk-sunk) Because everyone believed it. The ship left Southampton 南安普敦, England, on April 10, She sailed for five days on calm 平靜 的 seas, steaming 行駛 at about 26 miles per hour. Pretty fast for a ship of over 46 thousand tons.

2 On April 14, wireless 無線電報 reports from ships warned of Icebergs ahead. Actually, six reports came in that day. But the “unsinkable” ship steamed on. No slowing down 減速. There was no moon that night. At 11:40 P.M. lookout 守望者 Frederick Fleet saw the iceberg and phoned the bridge. 艦橋 ; 駕駛臺 A mountain of ice loomed against the dark sky. 隱約地出現
