6 Two kinds of verbs a transitive verb takes an object (vt + obj) eg. He won the match She broke the cup. an intransitive verb does not take an object eg. arrive, wait Tell me when he arrived. If there is an object after the intransitive verb, we put a preposition after it. (vi + prep + obj) arrived at the ferry pier (  ) (object)
