In India……………… Every 26 minutes, a woman is molested Every 34 minutes, a woman is raped. Every 42 minutes, an incident of sexual harassment takes place. Every 43 minutes, a woman is kidnapped. Every 93 minutes, a woman is killed.
Trouble comes when least expected. "What happens to others need not happen to me” is a common rationalization. We have to prepare to protect our women against the unknown and untimely enemy in this violent & unpredictable world that we live in. "Even Fortune favours the Prepared!"
How To Protect Yourself? Guidelines that every woman must follow when it comes to safety: When in a cab, always note down the number. If out late at night, make sure that you SMS this cab number to someone in your family for safety measures.. Keep your eyes fixed in front of you, being aware of any movement near you. Look at the faces of those around you, sometimes their eyes will reveal their evil intentions. Always and ALWAYS, carry some mode of self protection. While he might have the element of surprise, you will have your trusted safety product to use on him to surprise him enough to reach out for help. Products like pepper spray, mace spray are good safety options.
Self-defense Tips When You Are In A Tight Spot The three most vulnerable parts of your attacker body are: The testicles – Knee him in the testicles or start to punch at his groin area. However, stand on the side when doing this as he can fall forward on to you, trapping you further. The eyes – The eyes are sensitive, and if you have long nails go for the eyes and gouge them out. The pain will be enough for you to escape. Spray pepper spray directly into his eys. It is an inflammatory agent and it will literally clamp your attackers eyes shut for easily 30 minutes. It is a vital tool for self defense The throat – Hit his throat hard with your forearm to knock all air out of his windpipe, enough to make him gag and gasp for air. That little window of opportunity is enough time to make a run for it.
However, attacking these 3 parts is easier said than done. So other way of self defense is what you can do with the 3 main parts of your body – your head, your hands/arms and your legs/feet. Use your hands and arms in the right way – trying to punch your attacker will do you no good.. Attack the fleshy parts of his body like his underarms or thighs. Or, better still, use your elbows to attack his stomach, groin, ribs and throat for a good enough chance to get him to wince in pain long enough for you to escape. Use your legs and feet in the right way – your legs are probably the strongest part of your body. Usually the attacker will try and hold your hands to restrain you, but that leaves the balls of your feet and your knees free to attack. Knee him in the testicles or you can even kick hard with the balls of your feet at his calves or Achilles heel. If nothing else, raise your leg and use your high heeled shoes to crush his toes with a lot of force. Using your head smartly – try the head butt and slam it hard in to his nose! Yes, you might be reeling with the attack too but not as much as him and can make for an escape. If all else fails, start biting and clawing at his eyes.
Self-awareness is the key to self protection. Be prepared for the worst and you will find the strength to ward off most common kinds of attack.
