What genre is “The World According to Humphrey?” “ The World According to Humphrey” is a fantasy. It is an imaginative story that has unrealistic events. A hamster could not devise a plan to eliminate TV.
From what point of view is this story told? Who is telling the story? “ The World According to Humphrey” is told in a first- person point of view. Humphrey, the hamster, is telling the story.
Humphrey finds that everyone in A.J.’s house talks extra loud. Why is this? The TV is always on in A.J.’s house and his family must shout over the noise to hear one another.
What is Humphrey’s idea to eliminate all the noise? Humphrey pulls the TV plug out of the socket.
How does the family react when the TV goes silent? The family is upset at first, but then they start to tell stories and play games.
Why does Garth come over? Why is A.J. not happy about this? Garth comes over to help A.J. with Humphrey because he cannot keep him at his own house. A.J. is not happy at first because the boys were not getting along.
What problem is solved by the boys cleaning Humphrey’s cage together? The boys were mad at each other, but when they cleaned the cage together, they became friends again.
Why does A.J.’s mom tell his dad to leave the TV unplugged for a few days? Mrs. Thomas liked that the kids were playing outside and doing things besides watching TV
