2 What is “Brainstorming?” 1.“Creative thinking.” 2.“an effective way to generate lots of ideas on a specific issue and then determine which idea – or ideas – is the best solution.” (Source:

3 What is “vocabulary”? According to answers.com, vocabulary is: 1.“Words of a Language” 2.A collection of words 3.“A repertoire [stock or supply]” that supports meaningful communication”

4 Link between brainstorming and vocabulary? You must have a vocabulary to brainstorm and express your creative thoughts.

5 Why Brainstorm? To come up with writing ideas To come up with speech ideas To learn to use appropriate vocabulary to express your creative imagination To keep the brain/mind agile and engaged. The brain is a muscle that can atrophy (lose its strength) as can any muscle that is not conditioned or used regularly.

6 Activity 1: Vocabulary Exercise Create “Anagrams” – “a word, phrase, or sentence formed from another by rearranging its letters: “angel” is an anagram of “glean.” (Source: dictionary.com) Go to next slide for activity 1.
