The Erasmus Mundus Programme Erasmus is one of Europe’s flagship programme, 'Mundus' added an international window. 3 Actions: A1. joint programmes (Masters and Doctorates) A2. partnerships A3. promotion of the European Higher education
Action 2 in South Africa How it works? SA universities partner with European universities, according to requirements. For what? to award scholarships to students (Masters and Doctorates) and to staff. Source of funding? Instrument for Development cooperation (for SA mobility) and for cooperation with industrialised countries and other high income countries (for EU mobility). Since when? 4 th year of implementation.
Erasmus Mundus: 2011-2014 About EUR 28 million (including EUR 4.4 million for EU mobility). South African beneficiaries from Target group 1 and Target group 2. 537 beneficiaries: 278 Masters, 150 doctoral and 109 university staff. 13 to 33 European universities formally involved. 10 to 16 South African universities formally involved.
