Solving Single-Battery Circuits 1. Redraw the circuit A. Start at positive battery terminal B. Junction = split to parallel C. Follow 1 path at a time until you come to: i. -another junction ii. -negative battery terminal 2. Resolving the circuit A. Use and build VIR table—list known quantities B. Find equivalent resistance “inside to outside” C. You may need intermediate equivalent resistances 3. Fill in table using ohms law and conservation of current. 4. You should have a “check” at the end.

Calc-Based E&M 5/12 Important Motor Instructions Components important for good performance: Armature windings consistent and symmetric Commutator construction Brushes nice and straight Be sure to sand on back of white boards, NOT on table tops. Count number of windings/turns on armature and field coil (needed for calculations). Use length templates for cutting. Don’t use scissors to cut wire.
