2 Healthy Living Pharmacy national background Pharmacy White Paper states vision for pharmacies to become Healthy Living Centres Portsmouth develop HLP concept with support from DH, Director of Public Health and LPC Portsmouth HLPs deliver positive interim results. Minister asks can the results be replicated in differing demography and geography ? National pharmacy bodies working with DH launch pathfinder programme; leads to evaluation April 2013 Diffusion of innovation across over 40 areas in England; concept launched in Northern Ireland. Priority for Pharmacy and Public Health Forum. Support from Public Health England April 2008 June 2009 Sept 2010 March 2011 Present

3 Healthy Living Pharmacy background Norfolk LPC and PCT develop bid for a Healthy Living Pharmacy Program led by PCT and supported by LPC 15 Pharmacies apply to become Healthy Living Pharmacies and receive training, Norfolk - 7 Healthy Living Pharmacies achieve accreditation. Norfolk LPC put in bid for funding to be led by LPC. Yarmouth – 4 Pharmacies take part in National Pathfinder, 7 others are accepted for HLP training. Yarmouth and Norfolk HLP projects merge and funding is received to continue support existing HLP and develop a further 15 HLP sites. 4 Where has Health Living Pharmacy Funding come from? Healthy Communities aims to work with 10 Norfolk market towns & wards in the next year. These are: Cromer Fakenham Diss Wymondham North Walsham Hunstanton Downham Market Great Yarmouth (2x wards) Kings Lynn (1x ward)

11 How will this benefit your Business? “The results of the quantitative survey to assess the benefits of HLP status on contractors, employees and the public showed that the effect on income, prescription volume, demand for services, motivation and productivity of staff was positive for all types of contractor; and implementation of the HLP concept was seen as worthwhile for the business by over 70% of contractors. Over 90% of contractors saw benefits for staff development.” HLP pathfinder Evaluation, 2013 Recognition by commissioners of Public Health services was also highlighted in the report and the program is very highly regarded by Public Health Norfolk.

Sign Up as a Change for Life Supporter Ensure services are offered confidently and consistently by all members of staff Build a Portfolio of evidence Engage in Public Health campaigns and ensure a broad range of up to date resources are available

14 What are you being asked to do? Speak with your Health Champion about any support or help they may require. Keep the offer open. Ensure all members of staff recognise and understand the Healthy Living Pharmacy concept and are willing to support your Health Champion. Recognise members of your team who may be able to take on extra responsibility in helping to build a portfolio of evidence or lead on a service Develop your own leadership skills as part of your ongoing CPD requirements.
