2 Self Esteem Quiz 1 Name the five wealthiest people in the world. Name the last five Heisman trophy winners. Name the last five winners of the Miss America contest. Name ten people who have won the Nobel or Pulitzer prize. Name the last half dozen Academy Award winners for Best Actor and Actress. Name the last decade's worth of Stanley Cup Champions.

3 Self Esteem Quiz 2 List a few teachers who aided your journey through school. Name three friends who have helped you through a difficult time. Name five people who have taught you something worthwhile. Think of a few people who have made you feel appreciated and special. Think of five people you enjoy spending time with. Name a half dozen heroes whose stories have inspired you.

4 What is Self Esteem? Film “Dead Poet Society” Background info Groups of 3 or 4. How much do you think Todd believes in himself? How strong do you think Todd’s self-esteem is (1 – 10)? How can you tell? How successful do you think Todd will be in life if he doesn’t increase his self-esteem? Why is strong self-esteem important to success in college and in life?

5 What is Self Esteem? Can people raise their own self-esteem? Write your personal definition of self esteem. Identify someone you know who has high self-esteem according to your definition. In your small group share your answers and definition of self-esteem.

Do you want to change your definition?

7 Dead Poet Society Additional clip How would you rate Todd’s self-esteem now? (1 – 10) I f you think it is higher now, why? Is it possible for a person’s self-esteem to go up in a matter of only a few minutes? How?

8 Raising Self-Esteem In your group brainstorm ideas that a person could do to raise their self-esteem. Write these ideas on flip chart paper. Class discussion.

11 I am Poem & Gallery Walk 10 minutes to write your poem Hang your poem on the wall. Wander around the room and provide positive written feedback to at least 4 poems. Be specific about your feedback.
