GENERAL ACOUSTICS GmbH © LOG_aFlow ® - the Hydrodynamic Software for Hydraulic Engineering and Navigation Remarks on Quality Assessment General Acoustics GmbH Am Kiel-Kanal 1 24106 Kiel Germany Phone: +49 431 5 80 81 80 www.generalacoustics.com Info@generalacoustics.com
GENERAL ACOUSTICS GmbH © LOG_aFlow ® - hydrodynamic ADCP – data interpolation in space and time LOG_aFlow ® - the main idea I.) Challenge synoptic view of the flow ? whole area, fixed times unsynchronised (ADCP)-data II.) Setting up a physical model for interpolation confining on layer-integrated velocities (2-D-approximation); III.) Solution synoptic view of the flow !!! time discrete description, whole investigation area LOG_aFlow ®
GENERAL ACOUSTICS GmbH © conformity quality and error-velocity at every depth-cell LOG_aFlow ® - prerequisites checking and preparing ADCP – Data check data for continuity Quality of interpolation results is mainly determined by the quality of ADCP - data Therefore the quality of ADCP – data has to be checked for applicability of the data itself ADCP – data have also to be checked for conformity with interpolation technology RdiToLaf
GENERAL ACOUSTICS GmbH © RdiToLaf : preprocessing of ADCP-data Quality assessment of ADCP - data
GENERAL ACOUSTICS GmbH © Quality assessment of ADCP - data 1 st characteristic: data quality at every cell (quality, error velocity) (device – dependent parameter) adjustable thresholds for neglecting ‚bad‘ data
GENERAL ACOUSTICS GmbH © Quality assessment of ADCP - data 2 nd characteristic: - quality of the data ensemble - data conformity and integrity with evaluation technology (method– dependent parameter) adjustable thresholds for marking of non-compliant data From the example a question arise – Is it allowed to work with depth-integrated flow velocities or is it more realistic to work with layer-integrated flow velocities? This decision has to be made by the user, always! LOG_aFlow ® and RdiToLaf assists the user to make this decision!!
GENERAL ACOUSTICS GmbH © Conclusions advice: depth-cell range integration Attention for the data quality information (RdiToLaf) Explore the layer-integrated data evaluation
