1 2015 Research Project Events, People and Places of The Holocaust

2 ASSIGNMENT You will produce two products: 1. a written project 2. a museum exhibit

3 Choose Select an individual (or group) influential to The Holocaust What influence did the individual (or group) have at the time? What impact does the individual (or group) have on your life today? What was their motivation? What factors contributed to your subject’s success or demise?

4 What are we doing? You will be conducting an in-depth research project on an event or person or place of your choice that contributed to The Holocaust You will study the person’s influences, motivations, and experiences. OR You will study the event’s contributing factors (what led up to the event), the actual event and the repercussions (results) of the event and the person (or group) that most influenced it. OR You will study the place’s history, impact on the war and why it was important and the person (or group) that most influenced it. Your will produce a written research paper and a museum exhibit

5 Written Project Your project will consist of: 1. 10 Guiding Questions 2. Research Notes Worksheets 3. Outline 4. Sandwich Worksheets (Body Paragraphs) 5. A formal research paper (2-3 pages typed) 6. Works Cited page

6 Museum Exhibit Exhibit must include 10 artifacts that tells a part of the story of the exhibit Artifacts should highlight the impact of this person or group on history. Artifacts should represent issues that the person or group impacted. Artifacts do NOT need to be student-created. You may photocopy maps, photographs, or drawings. Ask yourself: How can the artifacts convey what the person or group stood for and how they impacted the times in which they lived and/or the future? May be placed on poster board/tri-fold board/diorama or be a physical representation of a scene.

7 Final Project: This is what you will turn in: 1. A Cover Sheet 2. A research proposal including guiding questions 3. A research notes worksheet for each source used. 4. A list of the 10 items in museum exhibit and a rationale for including each of them 5. A Museum Exhibit 6. The written project (typed 2-3 page research paper) in MLA format 7. A works cited page with at least 10 references.
