Fluency #12 40 words

Bill and Sally were at the zoo. They were sitting on a bench. Sally was eating peanuts. Monkey tapped Sally on the shoulder. “Excuse me,” Monkey said. “May I have a peanut?” “What?” asked Sally. “May I have a peanut?” 1

Sally was eating peanuts at the zoo. Monkey tapped Sally on the shoulder and asked her for a peanut. Sally said to Monkey, “You’re a monkey.” “Yes I am,” said Monkey. “Why aren’t you in your Monkey cage?” asked Sally. 2

“Why aren’t you in your monkey cage?” Sally asked Monkey. Monkey said, “Because the peanuts are out here. I really would like a peanut. May I have one please?” Sally said, “Monkeys don’t talk.” Monkey said, “Nobody told me that.” 3

Sally told Monkey that monkeys don’t talk. Monkey asked, “If we can’t talk, what are we supposed to do?” Sally said, “Monkeys jump around, wave their arms, and make funny noises.” “Please show me,” said monkey. Sally showed him how. 4

Sally was acting like a monkey at the zoo. A zoo keeper came by. He saw Sally. “Look,” said the zoo keeper, “it’s a monkey. It must have gotten out of it’s cage.” “I’m not a monkey!” Sally said loudly. 5

Sally was acting like a monkey. The zoo keeper grabbed her. He said, “I know what a monkey acts like. They jump up and down, making funny noises, and wave their arms. That’s what you’re doing. You are a monkey!” 6

The zoo keeper starting taking Sally to the monkey cage. “I’m a girl,” said Sally. “I’m not a monkey.” The zoo keeper said, “Let’s ask the kid in the furry suit.” “That’s a monkey!” said Sally. “You are,” said Monkey. 7

“I am not a monkey!” said Sally. “You can ask my friend Bill” The zoo keeper pointed at Sally. He asked Bill, “Is this monkey a monkey?” “The monkey?” asked Bill. “Yes,” said the zoo keeper. Is she a monkey?” 8

Bill remembered that Sally had teased him that morning. She had called him funny names. Now the zoo keeper asked her if she was a monkey. Bill said, “Yes she is. She is a monkey. She eats lots of bananas. 9

The zoo keeper grabbed Sally. He took her to the monkey cage. He said, “Get in the cage you monkey!” He pushed her in the cage. “I’m not a monkey.” Said Sally. “Then how come you’re in the monkey cage?” 10
