Keeping safe on the roads. By Laura

Your Bike Make sure your bike is safe to use on the roads before you start using it. Make sure your brakes are working, both front and back. Also make sure your wheels are fully pumped, and don’t squash when you sit on the bike. You should only just be able to touch the ground with your feet when you sit down, lower or higher the seat if necessary.

Keeping Yourself And Others Safe When you are cycling, you must make sure you can be seen and you are not putting anybody in danger. Its always good to wear a flourescent jacket if you are cycling in the dark so that other traffic can see you. You need to have a light on the front of your bike and a red light on the back of your bike if you are going to be cycling in the gloom or dark.

Wear A Helmet Never cycle without a helmet. If you don’t wear a helmet when cycling, there could be horrible consequences. You don’t always look the coolest when you wear a helmet, but you are definitely more safe than others who don’t wear one.

Road Signs You must always follow the road signs when cycling, driving or even horse riding. This means ‘No Cycling’ This means ‘Road Narrows’
