Purpose :  The Purpose we are doing this project is to see if you can put an egg in a car with protection and keep it from cracking the least as possible going down a ramp and hitting a cinder block.

Hypothesis :  We think that our car we designed will keep the egg from cracking because we spent a lot of time and on things that would “save the egg” as it crashes into a wall. We used popsicle sticks and Duck Tape to make a wall in front of the egg. ( we wrapped our egg in bubble wrap too!)  We think that our car we designed will keep the egg from cracking because we spent a lot of time and on things that would “save the egg” as it crashes into a wall. 4 Materials :  9 pieces of Duck Tape  12 Large Popsicle sticks  4 plastic tires  28 Pipe Cleaners  Three Hard Boiled Eggs  One small spring  About a ft. of bubble wrap  3 pieces of tape  9 dowels  3 Popsicle sticks  Lots of Hot Glue  And 2 mini Popsicle sticks  Ramp  Cinder block  9 pieces of Duck Tape  12 Large Popsicle sticks  4 plastic tires  28 Pipe Cleaners  Three Hard Boiled Eggs  One small spring  About a ft. of bubble wrap  3 pieces of tape  9 dowels  3 Popsicle sticks  Lots of Hot Glue  And 2 mini Popsicle sticks  Ramp  Cinder block

Procedure : Page 1.  First, grab 6 popsicle sticks and use 9 pieces of Duck Tape to make a sturdy “wall.” Then take 2 mini popsicle sticks and 2 purple pipe cleaners. Cut the pipe cleaners into small pieces (like 2in.) and hot glue each side of all the pipe cleaners to the mini popsicle sticks.  Next weave a green pipe cleaner through the purple pipe cleaners to make a “hammock” for your egg to ride in.  Take 9 dowels and cut one of them in half and wrap 4 small pieces of pipe cleaners around the half of the dowel with 2 of your wheels in between them as “half of your car.” You will have to put hot glue on the pipe cleaner pieces so they hole the wheels in place. (Repeat the third circle for the back set of wheels.)  First, grab 6 popsicle sticks and use 9 pieces of Duck Tape to make a sturdy “wall.” Then take 2 mini popsicle sticks and 2 purple pipe cleaners. 6 Procedure: Page 2.  Take the next dowel and cut it in half and hot glue each half to the dowels on the inside of the wheels to have a “car without a cab.” One of the last things you work with are the hammock and the pipe cleaners. Take the hammock and a pipe cleaner cut into 3 pieces and twist them to the bottom of the car like a seat. Then hot glue the hammock to the pipe cleaner pieces as the actual seat.  Get your egg and wrap it in bubble wrap and use 3 pieces of tape to secure the bubble wrap to the egg. Then take 3 tissues and tape them to the bubble wrap. Also take the “wall” you made and hot glue a pipe cleaner to it and set it on the front of your seat. Take the ends of the pipe cleaner and wrap them around the dowels that attach your wheels together. That will make an actual wall of protection. Cut a popsicle stick in half and hot glue it to the front of the wall to brace it. Take another dowel and cut it into 3 pieces as EQUAL AS POSSIBLE. Hot glue 2 of them strait outward and the other one against the 2. Last, you hot glue a spring to the dowel piece that is hot glued to the other dowel pieces on the front of the car. The very last thing you do is cut 2 popsicle sticks in half and hot glue them around the egg hammock to make sure the egg stays in it’s place. Take the last 8 pipe cleaners, and make 2 groups of three and braid each group. Tightly twist the other 2 and take the braids and the twisted one and braid all of those three together to make a “seat belt.” Tape each end to the bottom of the car. Congratulations! You’ve STOLEN our Whole Car!!  Place the egg into the car and slide it down the ramp.  Check to see if the egg cracked, record data  Do the last two steps two more times On to the results….  Take the next dowel and cut it in half and hot glue each half to the dowels on the inside of the wheels to have a “car without a cab.” One of the last things you work with are the hammock and the pipe cleaners. 7 Results:  Trial 1- Egg did not crack  Trial 2- Egg did not crack  Trial 3- Egg did not crack!  Trial 1- Egg did not crack  Trial 2- Egg did not crack  Trial 3- Egg did not crack!

Conclusion:  Our conclusion is that our Hypothesis was right. Our egg never cracked or fell out of our car. We think that this was one of the finest projects we’ve ever done. Our car design worked because we had a lot of protection around the egg and we put a spring to the front of the car to absorb some of the force when it hit the cinder block.

Acknowledgments:  We want to thank Mrs. Larsen, And the science Fair program. Also for each partner’s hard work on this project.
