H4i Launch Training © ResMed 2008 June Overview What’s new? Specifically designed to support the high flow rates and pressures typical in bilevel therapy Unparalleled performance compared to other integrated humidifiers 30% more humidity than H3i Two new water chambers: –Cleanable water chamber with removable tub plate –Low cost water chamber Supports entire range of S8, S8 II and VPAP IV
H4i Launch Training © ResMed 2008 June H3i/H4i Visual Differences H3i H4i H3iH4i Larger heater plate for better heat transfer Round front allows greater water capacity Thumb locator for easier closing Removed H4i name for clean branding focus on ResMed and the flow generators
H4i Launch Training © ResMed 2008 June H4i Humidifier Performance *Tested to ISO8185, at 10 cm H2O bias flow and maximum device output 30% Performance improvement Note: This represents the amount of humidity the devices can add to the air at the given flow rate.
H4i Launch Training © ResMed 2008 June Competitor Comparisons ResMed H4i “Best in class” * All devices tested to ISO8185, at 50 l/min and maximum device output Note: This represents the amount of humidity the devices can add to the air at the given flow rate.
H4i Launch Training © ResMed 2008 June H4i Water Chamber Variants H4i Water Chamber (sealed) Low cost 6-month life Opaque appearance Standard water chamber for Americas Available as accessory for ROW H4i Cleanable Water Chamber Removable base plate for easy cleaning 2-year life Similar transparent appearance as the H3i Cleanable does not equal MPMU Note: The sealed H4i water chamber will be available from November 1, 2008. A fixed plate version of the cleanable water chamber is being used in the interim. Inverted water chamber shows removable base for easy cleaning access
H4i Launch Training © ResMed 2008 June New H4i Cleaning Plug Added functionality The cleaning plug can now be used to measure the one part vinegar when conducting the weekly cleaning. Fill the cleaning plug to the rim with vinegar and pour into empty water chamber. New shape to fit H4i water chambers Add clean water to the water chamber until the solution reaches the maximum water level mark. Done. No more messing around with measuring jugs.

H4i Launch Training © ResMed 2008 June FAQs Q. Does the ResMed tubing wrap provide any benefits in humidification and comfort? A.Yes, the tubing wrap helps retain the heat as the air travels down the tube, providing warmer air to the mask. This warmth provides greater comfort and increases the amount of humidity able to be provided. This graphs shows how the saturation point increases with the temperature of the air. An increase as little as 2°C in air temperature results in a 13% increase in the amount of humidity able to be delivered to the mask. This can make all the difference between rainout and comfortable therapy. 13% more AH
H4i Launch Training © ResMed 2008 June FAQs Q. Can the H4i water chambers be used with the HumidAire 3i docking station? A. Yes, by replacing the H3i top cover and seal with the H4i variants, you can use either H4i water chamber on a H3i docking station. Note: You cannot use the H3i water chamber on the H4i docking station. (sealed)
H4i Launch Training © ResMed 2008 June FAQs Q. Why do the H4i water chambers hold less water than the H3i water chamber? A. The H3i has 60mL of unusable water. While the stated capacity is 415mL, only 355ml can be used. When the water level falls below the level of the tub plate, the remaining water is not usable. The H4i is designed with a large plate as the base, therefore all 390mL of water can be used. Total VolumeUsable Volume H3i415ml355ml H4i390ml
H4i Launch Training © ResMed 2008 June FAQs Q. Why is the H4i still being shipped with the carry pouch? How does the pouch fit into the new black flow generator bag? A. The new black bag is designed to be used without the carry pouch (see picture). The carry pouch does not fit into the new black bag. The H4i is initially being shipped with the carry pouch, as unfortunately there are still products being sold with the original blue bag. This bag requires the carry pouch to ensure adequate protection for the humidifier. The carry pouch is expected to be removed from the H4i packaging towards the end of the year.
H4i Launch Training © ResMed 2008 June FAQs Q. How do the H3i and H4i control dial settings differ? A. The graph below indicates the corresponding H4i control dial setting for each H3i setting. 123456 123456 H3i Humidity Dial Settings H4i Humidity Dial Settings Improved Humidity Performance Above setting 3.5, the H4i—with 30% more output—exceeds the maximum H3i output.
