Stemchanging Verbs (o-ue) How it works First, remember the two parts of the verb: the stem and the ending. For example, in the word “dormir,” which means to sleep: Dormir StemEnding Remember, all verb endings are either “ar” “er” or “ir”
Stemchanging Verbs (o-ue) How it works The verbs we’re about to look at are known as “stemchangers” because the verb endings are the same as other ar/er/ir verbs, but there is a change in the stem part of the verb. We are looking now at verbs which make the following stem change o-ue
Stemchanging Verbs (o-ue) How it works Let’s look at a sample. To the right you see the verb “dormir.” It means “to sleep” and it is an o-ue stemchanger. Dormir-to sleep The “o” in the stem of dormir changes to “ue” Then the normal “ir” endings are added Duermo Duermes Duerme
