7Robert Knudsen <email@example.com> REI Mars 85 Pack - LargeRobert Knudsen20 InchTorsoThis pack like some others is available in more than one size. The large fits a inch torso and has a larger belt with a bonus of 3 liters volume. If a pack style appeals to you and the display model does not fit, ask if the pack is available in another size.Sizecu inliterslb/ozkgTorsoWaistM5187856/02.718-2031-37L5370886/62.919-2134-4060-80 lbs
8Carl Gustenhoven <firstname.lastname@example.org> REI Mars (2005) Pack - LargeCarl Gustenhoven20¼ InchTorsoLikes: Comfort, price, outside water-bottle netsDislike: Lack of outside attachment points. I also don't like the color, this is not a silly as it may sound: it gets hot in the sun and it is hard to see. I want to be visible when I'm in the mountains.Sizecu inliterslb/ozkgTorsoWaistM4822805/122.6118-2031-37L5200855/142.6619-2134-4060-80 lbs

Great balance of comfort/capacity/ruggedness vs. weight. This pack can be cinched down to less than half its size when not full, and lid can be formed into a fanny pack. Has interchangeable heat-moldable belt.60-80 lbs
11Black Diamond Innova 60 Pack - M Pam Wilmot <firstname.lastname@example.org> 17.5 InchTorsoMy torso is 17.5 I picked the medium even though I was at the bottom of the scale. This is a women's specific 60 LITER pack-- 3 LB 13 OZ. The specs are here at REI;Sizecu inliterslb/ozkgTorsoWaistS3487573/121.7015-1930-35M3660603/131.7417-2134-3960-80 lbs

The pack is set up with a weeks worth of gear and food.60-80 lbs

This is not a feature with most backpacks (except Granite Gear, that I’m aware of anyways). – Judy LePage60-80 lbs

17Kathmandu Gluon Interloper - Lg Chris McCarron19.5 InchTorsoGear can get expensive and I’m all about reusing and recycling equipment from other people and that you bought for other uses but this pack illustrates why that’s not always a good idea. The pack is too long for my torso so it’s difficult to get it properly adjusted. Also the frame comes up so high that I can’t move my head back, making it difficult and potentially dangerous in certain terrain.
18Deuter Aircontact 65+10 Pack George Papayannis19 InchTorsoI considered the Deuter ACT Lite and Gregory Baltoro packs – the ACT Lite because of its weight and the Baltoro because of hiker recommendations. I chose the Aircontact because it had better shoulder padding that the ACT Lite and was less expensive than the Baltoro.Sizecu inliterslb/ozkgTorsoWaistOne Size6 / 02.7116-21 in30-50 in60-80 lbs

This pack can be cinched down to less than half it’s size when not full or the lid can be formed into a fanny pack. The Aether backpacker is less conscious of weight and more concerned with comfort and the ability to carry whatever is thrown inside. He or she is less of a hiker and more of a camper, choosing to hike 5-10 miles/day and spend afternoons at the site smelling the flowers and fishing.60-80 lbs
21Granite Gear Crown 60 - Medium 21 InchTorsoSizecu inliterslb/ozkgTorsoWaistReg3660602/020.918-2130-34Tall4000652/041.021-2534-38Granite Gear does light right. Hikers, rather than campers, are accessing their pack only a couple times during the day, emptying it in the evening when they arrive at their destination. Packing those items that aren’t needed until camp at the bottom of the pack makes room for the essentials to stay close or go in the outside pockets. Durability isn’t sacrificed and comfortable carrying up to 30 lbs make for a light but fully featured kit.60-80 lbs
