The Incarnated Word of God Orients My Art

Last First Draft Details
The Listening Point 1998 Perceptive, …and Receptive!
He was in the world, and though the world was made through him, the world did not recognize him. John 1:10 The Listening Point
Rustic Decanter I 2004 As a perceptive person, I find beauty…
…in unexpected places. Rustic Decanter II 2005
Jonah 1995 Through art, I search for truth…
Jonah 1995 …and study the Word, through Visual Exegesis!
Jonah (Detail) Jonah is seen in deep spiritual confusion; floating, buffeted by currents and breakers, sinking, submerged, part human and part fish. Fetal, hands clasped, and drawn inward, he laments his weakness and loneliness, praying to God for mercy and salvation.
Jonah 1995 Jonah’s deliverance is depicted as an acrobatic spiritual resurgence. Free from encumbrance, the open figure’s leap and reach are juxtaposed with the cruciform fluke of the whale.
24” x 20” x 7” 1991 The Peaceable Kingdom
The ape, most intelligent of the animals, makes a strong and complex statement to the zebra, who is only capable of seeing the issue in “black and white.” The parrot screeches a radical point of view, while the lizard is only tense, gripping the earth. These temperaments coexist in delicate balance. Peaceable Kingdom Fable
There was just a continent without much on it under a sky that never cared less. Ready for change the elbows waited. The hands gripped hard on the desert. from “At the Bomb Testing Site” -- William Stafford
