5  Do you like to shape clay with your hands?  Do colors stir up feelings in you?  Do you like to draw?  Do you enjoy working alone?

6 Visual Artist Visual Artist You imagine and express your ideas, or the ideas of others. You create art and products to sell, or to be collected

7 Graphic Design, Commercial Art, and Animation Art Making art for media such as film, books, graphic novels, internet, advertisements, video games, television and movies

8 A Designer Designs objects or products that have a distinctive look or function: Fashion * Architecture * Landscape * Furniture * Toys * Interior Design

9 An Art Historian or Museum Curator Studies, teaches, preserves and protects cultural and fine art objects. Organizes the exhibits of items into Museum collections and informs visitors about the collections

10  Does music stir up feelings within you?  Do you like to sing or play an instrument?  Do you enjoy helping others improve singing or playing an instrument?  Do you enjoy listening to music and singing along?

22 Exploring Careers in the Arts With Technology This lesson will occur in 1-2 classes in the Computer Lab with Kennedy fifth graders. It will happen at the end of the school year, at the end of Youth Art Month in March, or during the May Art Show week at Kennedy. 23 View Presentation on Art Careers in the Computer Lab *Complete an interest survey to determine their area of greatest art interest based on personal characteristics. (Students will determine interest by checking boxes, and enter the totals checked in large boxes for each art area on their form.) *Share their survey results with a peer *Participation in class discussion to explore: Open the PowerPoint file in the Student Art Folder *Tour Careers in art through PowerPoint hyperlinks *Writing activity and print out explaining their possible career area in the arts View Presentation on Art Careers in the Computer Lab *Complete an interest survey to determine their area of greatest art interest based on personal characteristics. 24 Assessment Art survey completed Evidence of sharing with a peer and/or during the class discussion Written summary of highest area of interest in Word file, printed and handed in. It will start with an open ended prompt in a file they can access on the student file area.
