Homework You will be required to complete some work as homework. If you do not complete an assignment, it will be due the following day or you will get reduced credit for the assignment. Correct headings and titles need to be on all assignments. I rarely give homework on the week-ends or over extended holidays (winter or spring break). Check my teacher page if you are absent or talk to your Literature Partner (person you sit next to in class).
HOMEWORK... It is your responsibility to write down your homework. It is your responsibility to ask for help on your homework assignments or to clarify the assignment before leaving class. You can always e-mail me with your questions if you are absent. You may also call your Study Buddy or use the OLHMS web site and go to Teacher Pages. If you know you will not be in school you need to let me know as soon as possible so that I can provide assignments for you to complete, so you do not fall too far behind.
YOUR BOOKS... You are responsible for your textbooks. Your Holt Textbook stays in the classroom and is shared with 2 other Block classes. You can access your text online with a username and password I will give you. You are expected to bring an SSR (Silent Sustained Reading) book to class every day and return it to the Library on time.
Missing Assignments All work is due on it’s due date. Grades for late work will be reduced. Missing work is not acceptable. You MUST turn in all assignments. Working lunch and/or Power Hour will be required until all work is completed. Extra Credit is never given as a means to make up missing work. Please do not ask for extra credit!
AT THE END OF CLASS... Complete the Exit Slip. Clean up the area around your desk. Wait until I dismiss you. Push in your chairs before you leave. Quietly walk out the door and into the hallway. Students who pack up before the bell rings will be the last to leave the classroom. Remember, I am the Bell!
A FINAL THOUGHT... Remember to ask for help anytime you need it! Don’t think your question or problem is “dumb”. Those who learn are the ones who ask questions. Your future is in your hands. I truly believe in your potential. There is no one else like you in the whole, entire world. It is not enough, however, for me to believe in you. You also need to believe in your potential too! Believe that you can be successful this year and it will happen!
