Professor Horst Cerjak, 19.12.2005 3 DI Jörg Koppelhuber | TU Graz ID:wood | workshop Belgrade – 01|Oct|2013 „It is our challenge, to give something to our client, which he wants to have, but where he never knew, that he was actually searching for and where he says, that he wanted to have it, if it would be available.“ quotation of BMW translation from german © Fotocredit:1000 new eco designs and where to find them, by Rebecca Proctor, 2009

Professor Horst Cerjak, 19.12.2005 4 DI Jörg Koppelhuber | TU Graz ID:wood | workshop Belgrade – 01|Oct|2013 aims and mission to generate innovation with the material timber to establish timber as high-tech building product to motivate the wooden industry for innovative thinking so that their ideas are implemented into their processes to convince agents and contractors to use timber as THE building material to force interregionalisation und internationalisation to install international competitive economic structures to create future-orientated qualification structures _________________________ increase the use of timber to solve the CO2-problem

Professor Horst Cerjak, 19.12.2005 5 DI Jörg Koppelhuber | TU Graz ID:wood | workshop Belgrade – 01|Oct|2013 agenda introduction & mission definitions & strategic process innovation – management, processes & masterplan innovation – best practice example 1 example 2 summary ______________________________________ workshop innovation with timber

Professor Horst Cerjak, 19.12.2005 6 DI Jörg Koppelhuber | TU Graz ID:wood | workshop Belgrade – 01|Oct|2013 definitions1|2 idea an new image or a new thought. If ideas become real, then it is an invention. idea is not innovation! invention an invention is an insight, which didn‘t exist before. However it is not completely new. in most cases inventions are achievements in technical fields innovation translated: alterations [lat. novus – new, innovatio – something new created] = innovation is an idea, which is applied as new solution on the market as a product, service or method. i nvention is not innovation. Inventions are ideas, which are realised until the prototype or concept stage.

Professor Horst Cerjak, 19.12.2005 7 DI Jörg Koppelhuber | TU Graz ID:wood | workshop Belgrade – 01|Oct|2013 definitions 2|2 innovation management strategic planning, supervision and controlling of innovations within an organisation. The application and implementation of ideas. in comparison: creativity is the development of ideas. to be innovativ to create an appropriate culture within a company, to establish a strategic plan and the systematic use of adequate instruments to allow innovation. _________________________ IDEA IS NOT INNOVATION !

Professor Horst Cerjak, 19.12.2005 8 DI Jörg Koppelhuber | TU Graz ID:wood | workshop Belgrade – 01|Oct|2013 reaching the target KISS – keep it short and simple with innovation reaching simplification one-stop solution everything out from one hand SMART timber timber is more innovative and intelligent than any other material logic and consequence constructive and constant development establishing a brand – timber is cool being part of a trend that started already _________________________ WHY ?to push IDEAS to generate success to drive the wooden branch with innovation STRATEGICALLY into the future !
