Algebra 2 4.4 Mt. Rainer

Quiz. Copy the problems and write the answer. Put your grade paper on the front of your row, quiz side down. 1.Linda wants to mix a 15% alcohol solution with a 35% solution to get 100 ml of a 20% solution. How many ml of each solution should she use? 2.The perimeter of a rectangle is 118. The length is 7 less than twice the width. Find the dimensions.

SAT Question: The sum of \$4000 is invested, part at 5% and the rest at 6%. How much is invested at 6% if the total annual interest is \$225? A.\$1500 B.\$2000 C.\$2500 D.\$2250 E.\$2400

To solve a system of three equations algebraically: 1.Decide which is the easiest variable to eliminate. 2.Eliminate that variable by using two equations at a time; do it twice. 3.Take the remaining equations, which usually have the same two variables, and solve them together for both variables. Then substitute them into one of the original equations to find the third variable.

Example 1: All the variables are easy to eliminate. Let’s eliminate z: 1 2 1 3
