ICDD Workshop 1 and 3 Sample Preparation Group C Photographs by Stephen Williams
2
Side drifted – peaks are a little too high in 2theta angle. Extra peaks may indicate contamination of 2 nd phase or Rx with organic liquid. Pref. Orient.
3
Peak Shift 0.05 degrees Sample holder Container says Plaster of Paris (CaSO 4 ). It looks this stuff has grabbed H 2 O and CO 2 from the air over time Sample was so high that it was not in the focusing plane.
4
Sample A was Epsom Salts. Pack mount but signal still small because of reduced quantity.
5
Textured Aluminum (200) preferred Dolomite present in one sample and not in other.
6
Shifted to high 2theta and preferred orientation on (200) plane (200) Much like my Gold specimen!
7
Raised bkgd from Vaseline and/or glass slide Preferred orientation?
8
Peak positions look good, intensities close but not exact. Is there preferred orientation? Good but boring…

Backfilled specimen looks good.
