Slide: 8 q The primary colors defined in the Corporate Design Manual should be used for graphics. If necessary, the Vector secondary colors can be supplemented for a sensible color design. q The Vector secondary colors have been chosen so that they are clearly visible in monitor and beamer presentations. For intended black-and-white printout, put borders around the colored areas because otherwise they are hard to distinguish. q All colors may be used only as 100% pantone. Colors & Shapes Colors

Slide: 9 Light Grey (defined in CD Manual: R 229, G 229, B 229) should not be used for graphics because there is no difference to Medium Grey when it is projected. Colors & Shapes Color Overview

10 ©2007. Vector Informatik GmbH. All rights reserved. Any distribution or copying is subject to prior written approval by Vector. Slide: 10 Colors & Shapes Shapes q Where possible use only rectangles and squares and not too many different sizes in a graphic. In exceptional cases triangles and circles may be used, but no ovals or similar shapes. q Frames should be avoided. Frames with a maximum width of 1pt can be used. q Only 2D graphics can be used (not 3D). Exception: symbols for databases, documents, etc.

11 ©2007. Vector Informatik GmbH. All rights reserved. Any distribution or copying is subject to prior written approval by Vector. Slide: 11 q Hatching, Shading, Gradations, Grids q NO hatching, shading or gradations may be used. Colored areas are not shaded. q Lines and Arrows q Lines of the following widths can be used : 1 pt, 1.5 pt, in exceptional cases 5 pt. q Lines and arrows are usually black, and Vector Red for emphasis. In exceptional cases, i.e. when several subjects in a graphic have to be marked by arrows, it is possible to use other defined colors. Lines and arrows are always continuous, exception line-and-dot arrows. The arrow tips should always be a standard arrow. Colors & Shapes Miscellaneous

Slide: 16 Graphics q Vector graphics should have a classy appearance. q Note: Technical graphics should always be drafted in Corel Draw or in Visio. They can then simply be inserted in PowerPoint, Word etc. q Graphic Formats q Graphics and photos should comply with the following standards: q Picture format: q Pixel graphics:*.jpg or *.bmp, *.tif q Vector graphics: *.wmf, *.cdr or *.vsd q Resolution: q 150 dpi for Power point presentations q 300 dpi for press work e.g. press releases, adverts etc. q Color range: RGB

Slide: 17 q Background of Graphics q If a pdf file is to be made out of a PowerPoint file, please note the following: If the background of a pixel graphic is made transparent in PowerPoint, this makes the pdf file considerably larger. For this reason, leave a white or grey background. Alternatively: set to transparent in a different graphics program. q Details of the Legend (in PowerPoint) q 8 pt, black, left-justified q Position to the left under the graphic q The legend can be placed in a border. q Frame width 1pt, black q Abstraction Level q Applies within a slide and with respect to the entire presentation. q Either only photos, only graphics or only symbols may be used. q The various forms of representation should never be mixed. Slide: 18 Graphics q Using Screenshots q When using screenshots remember that the information content must be retained. If necessary, only parts of the entire screen content should be used. q ClipArts q ClipArts should be used as little as possible. Instead, select symbols where possible. Adapt the default ClipArt colors to the Vector colors. q External Graphics q Graphics provided by a third party must be identified as such in the space for legends. Where possible, graphics should be CD- compatible, i.e. an adaptation of the colors is desirable.
