Boys, I want to tell you about a trick that helps me with the letter C when I see it in a word or when I am writing words! You probably know that the letter C can make two sounds: /k/ and /s/. Today we will learn how to tell which sound the C is making by looking at the letter that follows it!
If you see the letters e, i, or y after the letter C, it makes the soft /s/ sound! Look at these words! / s / This c says /s/
Because this c does not have an e, i, or y after it, it says - /k/ Because this c has an e after it, it follows the rule and says- /s/
If…. is followed by or it says any other letter it says
Does this c say /s/ or /k/? /s/ /k/
/s/ These words have a C that says /k/ because the letter after C is NOT e, i, or y! /k/
Just remember to look at the letter after the c to figure out which sound it makes!
