King Solomon Baptist Church Newsletter January 1, 2012 Study to show thyself approved Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.” 2 Timothy 2:15 (KJV) Paul was writing to Timothy to warn him about those who would come in and try to subvert the truth. Those who would come in to deny the doctrine that is central to the whole plan of salvation. Paul is telling Timothy to know the word of truth so that he would not be swayed by these smooth talking charlatans who were only concerned about their own agenda. Unfortunately, we in this day have an abundance of these smooth talking con men. They have at their disposal corrupted versions of God’s Word and use it to “overthrow the faith of some.” Their god is their belly and it is only their self deifying motives that they are concerned about. These same people believe that with gain is godliness. Paul also warned Timothy to stay away from these people (1 Timothy 6:5). We are to point out these people who would subvert God’s Word and attempt to bring about division in the church (Romans 16:17). Are you well versed enough in Scripture so as not to be fooled by these smooth talking devils? Can you refute those who would attempt to use parts of God’s Word to trick you into believing those things that are contrary to God’s Word? Nutritional Information Amount Per Serving Calories: 408 | Total Fat: 14.6g | Cholesterol: 22mg Recipes The Very Best Blueberry Cobbler Prep Time: Cook Time: Ready In: 15 Min 25 Min 50 Min Ingredients 2 1/2 cups fresh or frozen blueberries 1 teaspoon vanilla extract 1/2 lemon, juiced 1 cup white sugar, or to taste 1/2 teaspoon all-purpose flour 1 tablespoon butter, melted 1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour 4 teaspoons baking powder 6 tablespoons white sugar 5 tablespoons butter 1 cup milk 2 teaspoons sugar 1 pinch ground cinnamon Directions 1.Lightly grease an 8 inch square baking dish. Place the blueberries into the baking dish, and mix with vanilla and lemon juice. Sprinkle with 1 cup of sugar and 1/2 teaspoon of flour, then stir in the tablespoon of melted butter. Set aside. 2. In a medium bowl, stir together 1 3/4 cups of flour, baking powder, and 6 tablespoons sugar. Rub in the 5 tablespoons butter using your fingers, or cut in with a pastry blender until it is in small pieces. Make a well in the center, and quickly stir in the milk. Mix just until moistened. You should have a very thick batter, or very wet dough. You may need to add a splash more milk. Cover, and let batter rest for 10 minutes. 3. Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C). Spoon the batter over the blueberries, leaving only a few small holes for the berries to peek through. Mix together the cinnamon and 2 teaspoons sugar; sprinkle over the top. 4. Bake for 20 to 25 minutes in the preheated oven, or until the top is golden brown. A knife inserted into the topping should come out clean - of course there will be blueberry syrup on the knife. Let cool until just warm before serving. This can store in the refrigerator for 2 days.

As African Americans it is time we find out where we came from. It is not enough to say we cam e from Africa. A lot of time we “did not” come from Africa. Some of us came from England, France, Great Britain and many other places and many other places and many times with royal blood in our veins. Make a vow that from this day forward as an African American, you will take the responsibility to discover your heritage. From the slave economy to the civil rights movement and from the blues to hip-hop. Find out your history. Don’t take someone else’s word: FIND OUT FOR YOURSELF!!!!
