What the dickens is footbag!? The Bag What can I do with it? The Games (Freestyle, Net) Kicking Stalling/Delaying

Footbag “Tricks” “The Lumberjack Start with the footbag on your toe. Then kick it up and back a smidge so that it goes above your head. Lean forewards and let the footbag stall on the back of your neck. Quickly stand up straight and lean forewards once again. If done correctly, the footbag should go out a wee bit and start to let gravity take its course. Swing a back of your solekick while still leaning forewards. You should be in a T shape and the bag will bounce off your foot and fly back over your head. Then keep on kicking. It is called the lumberjack because the motion of leaning up then down then up is like a saw cutting through a tree." - www.footbag.com

Definition of a “Trick” Coordinate System!?!? Starts once bag has left foot and ends when it returns to foot. Adds/Components -> –spinning –Ducking –Stalling –Dexterities!

Jobs’ Notation Ben Jobs -> Electrical Engineer Engineering assignment… Any trick can be defined by breaking it into components: SET > TRICK COMPONENTS > STALL

Jobs’ Notation Coordinate System "Same" and "op" are always relative to the leg previously referred to “Toe” or “Clip” refer to the setting or delaying surface “>” means into “|” means OR (toe | clip) > [(same | op)(in | out)dexterity] > (same | op)(toe | clip)

Dexterities Moving “around” the bag. Conical Comparison In to Out Out to In EX: “Around the World” 2 ADDS TOE > SAME IN | OUT [DEX] > SAME TOE [DEL]

Uptime/Downtime Easiest to dex bag when v y =0 Introduction of the >> operator to define when the bag has peaked More efficient use of time EX: Magellan (3 adds) TOE > SAME IN [DEX] >> SAME OUT [DEX] > SAME TOE [DEL]

Unique Tricks 3 ADDS or greater and unique jobs’ description. The same trick done on opposite sides is also considered unique in competion EX: Whirl Vs Butterfly (3 adds): TOE > SAME IN [DEX] > OP CLIP [XBD] [DEL] TOE > SAME OUT [DEX} > OP CLIP [XBD] [DEL]

Competition – Shred30 Greatest Quality and Quantity of Tricks in 30 seconds Objective formula outputs a “score” THE EQUATION OF SUCCESS: SCORE = ADDS + (UNIQUES x RATIO) ADDS – TOTAL # OF COMPONENTS RATIO – ADDS/ # OF TRICKS

My Shred30 Score 29 contacts 79 total adds Ratio: 79/29 = 2.72 15 uniques 3 RD PLACE: ShrEdmonton OPEN 2005 SCORE = ADDS + (UNIQUES x RATIO) SCORE = 79 + (15*2.72) = 120
