3 How do I set up and install my DCS-5020L
Step 1: Download and the install wizard for your camera from Step 2: Launch the install wizard: •Step 2.1 : Select a language from the drop-down menu and click Start.

4 Step 2.2: Accept the End User License Agreement by checking the box next to “I accept these terms and conditions”, then click Next. Step 2.3: Follow the on-screen instructions to connect your camera to your router and connect the power. Click Next after you have completed each step.

6 Step 4.4: Confirm that the LED on the front of the camera is lit solid green.

7 Step 4.5: Select your DCS-5020L using the radio button from the menu on the left-hand side of the camera name. Enter and confirm a new password for the administrator account in the fields provided. This password will be required when logging in to the camera’s web-based configuration interface. Click Next to continue.

8 Step 4.6: Using the radio buttons, select how you wish to connect your camera to your router for normal operation. You can choose to connect using a wired Ethernet connection (Ethernet cable), using Wi-Fi Protected Setup (WPS), or by selecting an available wireless network. Click Next to continue.

9 Step If you selected Ethernet Cable connection, follow the on-screen instructions to connect your camera to your router using a wired connection. Once completed, click Next to continue the wizard.

10 Step If you selected By using Wi-Fi Protected Setup (WPS), follow the on-screen instructions to connect your camera to your wireless router using WPS. Once completed, click Next to continue the wizard. Note: Your router must support WPS Push-button Connection (PBC) in order to use this method.

11 Step If you selected By Selecting a Wireless Network, choose an available wireless network from the drop-down menu. If you do not see your wireless network in the list, click Rescan to search for wireless networks again. If your network requires a password, enter it in the Wireless password field. Click Next to continue.

12 Step 4.7.1: In order to use the cloud features of your camera, you will need to add it to your mydlink account. If you do not have a mydlink account, you can create one at this step. To add the DCS-5020L to your existing mydlink account, select Yes, I already have a mydlink account, then enter your mydlink account username ( address) and password in the fields provided and click Next.

13 Step 4.7.2: If you selected No, I want to sign up for a new account, enter the information required for account registration in the fields provided. Check the box to indicate that you accept the Terms of Use and Privacy Policy for mydlink cloud services. Click Next to continue.

14 Step 4.7.3: If you selected I don’t want to enable mydlink cloud service, you will not be able to use any of the cloud services associated with your camera. Click Next to continue. Step 4.7: Setup is complete. A summary page with display your camera’s setup details, as well as your mydlink account information. Click Finish.

15 Step 5: Log in to your mydlink account to view and manage your DCS-5020L at http://www.mydlink.com

16 Why can’t the installation wizard on the CD find my network connected camera
This problem can be caused by a firmware upgrade on your camera. Please go to to download the latest version of the setup wizard which supports your camera’s current firmware version.

17 How do I set an administrator (admin) password on my DCS-5020L
Note: mydlink Cloud Service registration requires the admin password Step 1: Open a web browser and enter the IP address of the camera in the address bar (default is ). Press Enter. Step 2: The default username is admin and the password field should be left blank. Click OK.

18 Step 3: Click the Maintenance tab at the top and then click Admin from the menu on the left-hand side. Step 4: To change the administrator password, enter the existing administrator password (leave blank if you have not changed it from the default), and enter a new password in the New Password field under the Admin Password Setting section. You will need to type the new password again in the Retype Password field. Step 5: Click Apply/Save to save the configuration.

19 What do I do if I forget the login username & password of my mydlink camera
To be used if your D-Link Cloud Camera is already registered with the mydlink Cloud Service. Step 1: Open your web browser and enter Step 2: Enter your mydlink ID ( ) and password at the login screen and click Sign in.

22 When Do I Reset My Camera to Factory Default Settings
If you forget your camera’s password and have not registered with the mydlink cloud service, you can perform a reset to return all settings to the factory default. If you can’t open the login web page or log in to the device. If you change your network environment. If you want to assign device to another mydlink account. If you encounter a problem while registering the device to the mydlink service. If the setup wizard can’t find the camera. Note: After a factory reset you will need to re-register the camera with mydlink

23 Step 1: With the unit on, use a paper clip to press the reset button inside the hole on the back on the unit labeled Reset. Step 2: Hold the button down for 10 seconds and release. Note: Do not unplug the power during this procedure. Step 3: The unit will then reboot. Once the power light stops blinking, the unit is reset and all settings are restored to their defaults.

24 How do I change the LAN IP address of my camera
You need to set up a static IP address for your camera. Changing the IP address from the default can prevent IP conflicts with other devices on your network. Note: If you change the LAN IP address of the camera, you will need to enter the new IP address into your web browser’s address bar in order to access the configuration utility. Step 1: Open a web browser and enter the IP address of the camera in the address bar (default is ). Press Enter. Step 2: The default username is admin and the password field should be left blank. Click OK.

Step 4: Go to Network Setup and select Static IP Address

26 Step 5: Change the IPv4 Address using the field provided
Step 5: Change the IPv4 Address using the field provided. The new address should be within the same subnet as the factory default address (ie: XXX). Step 6: Click the Save Settings button to save the new settings.

27 How do I configure motion detection on my camera
Method 1: To be used if your D-Link Cloud Camera is already registered with the mydlink Cloud Service. Step 1: Open your web browser and enter Step 2: Enter your mydlink ID ( ) and password at the login screen and click Sign in.

Step 4: Select the Motion Detection checkbox.

36 Step 6: Specify whether you want to Always have motion detection enabled, or define a Schedule of your choosing. When choosing a schedule, use the checkboxes to select individual days, and specify a Start and Stop time for the schedule on each of the days selected.

37 Step 7: Specify how sensitive you would like motion detection to be.
Step 8: Use your mouse to define the areas of the video that you would like to monitor for motion. Clicking once on a square within the grid will select that area of the video for motion detection. Clicking the same area again will deselect the area.

39 How many types of motion detection are available on my IP camera
Selected D-Link Cloud Cameras offer 2 different types of motion detection. 1. Software or Pixel Change Motion Detection: The camera compares the change in pixels from one frame to another.

40 2. Hardware or PIR (Passive Infrared Sensor): Motion is detected when an object enters the image and gives off a different heat signature

41 How do I configure the audio settings on my DCS-5020L
Step 1: Open a web browser and enter the IP address of the camera in the address bar (default is ). Press Enter. Step 2: The default username is admin and the password is blank (nothing). Click OK.

42 Step 3: Click the Setup tab and then click Audio to the left.

43 Step 4: Click Enable in the Audio Settings section.
Step 5: Change the Volume Settings and click Save Settings to retain /save the changes.

44 How do I manually upgrade the firmware on my camera
Note: All firmware upgrades should be done over a WIRED connection. If your camera is currently configured for wireless, plug it directly into your router before proceeding. Step 1: Download the latest firmware file for your device from https://www.mydlink.com/support Step 2: Open a web browser and enter the IP address of the camera in the address bar (default is ). Press Enter. Step 3: The default username is admin and the password field should be left blank. Click OK.

45 Step 4: Click the Maintenance tab and then click Firmware Upgrade from the menu on the left-hand side. Step 5: Click on Browse to located the downloaded firmware and then click the Upload button. The firmware upgrade will commence. Once completed, the camera will reboot, and you will need to log in to the configuration interface again.

46 How do I mount my camera to a wall or ceiling
Step 1: Place the mounting bracket where you want to position the camera and use a pencil to mark the holes. Step 2: Depending on the material of the wall or ceiling, use proper tools to drill two holes or screws where you marked. If the wall is made out of concrete, drill the holes first, then insert the plastic anchors to support the screws.

47 Step 3: The power and Ethernet cables can be concealed behind the mounting bracket. Run the cables through the back of the mounting bracket, securing them with the built-in guides. Be sure to leave enough cable length protruding from the top to allow connection to the camera. Step 4: Fasten the mounting bracket to the wall using the screws provided.

48 Step 5: Using the supplied thumbscrew, fasten the camera to the mounting bracket. Connect the power and Ethernet cables to the camera. Step 6: Adjust the angle of the arm on the mounting bracket as required. Tighten the thumbscrew to lock the arm in place.

49 What can I do when Active X fails to install during my mydlink camera setup
Step 1: If you have any software firewalls installed (Norton, McAfee, Kaspersky), try temporarily disabling them and running the wizard again. Step 2: Ensure you are running the latest setup wizard. Please visit to download the latest version for your mydlink camera. Step 3: Check your web browser settings. Ensure that the security level is set to Medium-high or Medium. (If set to High, temporarily lower until setup is complete) Step 4. Check also if your computer is using any proxy server. Step 5. Reset the camera and try to install/run again the wizard.

50 How do I configure Internet Explorer to allow ActiveX Controls
Step 1: Open Internet Explorer browser. Step 2: Click the Settings icon and then Internet Options. Step 3: Click on the Security tab, select Internet, then click on the Custom Level button.

51 Step 4: Ensure that the Allow ActiveX Filtering option is Disabled.
Note: Enabling settings will block your ActiveX Installation, Note: If you have antivirus or firewall programs running, make sure they are not blocking ActiveX controls from being downloaded or running. Make sure that you have administrative rights before installing the ActiveX controls.

52 How do I access my mydlink camera remotely
In order to view your mydlink camera remotely through the mydlink portal or using the mydlink app, you must first register your camera to a mydlink account. This is done while running the installation CD or camera installer which came supplied with your camera. Please visit https://www.mydlink.com/support to download the installer for your camera. Using mydlink Web Portal: Step 1: Log in to your mydlink account at

53 Step 2: Select your mydlink-enabled camera to view live video.
Using the mydlink Lite app: Step 1: Download and install the mydlink Lite app from to your mobile device (check your camera’s packaging or documentation for compatibility).

54 Step 2: Log into the app with your mydlink username and password.

Your live video will be displayed. Depending on the model of camera you are viewing, you may be able to control certain functions using the buttons below the live feed screen. Tap the camera that you wish to view the live feed for from the list which appears.

56 How do I Enable a new camera in D-viewCam?
D-ViewCam is a powerful software package from D-Link which may be purchased separately. It is useful for monitoring a large network of up to 32 cloud cameras Step 1: Launch the D-ViewCam console. Once the console loads, click on the General Settings icon, then Setting, and then click System Setting.

57 Step 2: Click on the Camera tab.

58 Step 3: Click Start Scan to automatically find the IP camera(s) that are on your Local Area Network (LAN).

59 Step 4: Select one of the IP cameras that are available by checking the box in the left-hand column. You may enter a new name for this camera and then enter the administrator username and password assigned to this camera in the fields provided. Click OK to add the camera.

60 Step 5: The pop-up window will close and the new camera should appear on the list.

61 If a camera does not support UPnP, you can manually add a camera
Step 1: Click Insert to manually add a network camera that is on your Local Area Network (LAN). The IP Camera Video/Server Setting window will appear.

62 Step 2: Enter the following network information for your camera:
• Name - Enter a name for your camera. • IP Address - Enter the IP address of this camera. If you want to use a domain name, then check the DNS box and enter the domain name. • HTTP Port - 80 is the default port. • User Name - Enter the administrator user name for this camera. • Password - Enter the administrator password for this camera. • Protocol - Select TCP, UDP or HTTP. Enter the following device information for your camera, or click Auto Detect to detect the vendor and model information. • Vendor - Select the brand name from the dropdown menu. • Camera Model - Select the camera model from the drop-down menu. • Video Channel - Select the video channel you want to assign the camera Step 3: Click OK to add your camera.

63 How do I set up motion detection and recording in D-ViewCam
Step 1: Launch D-ViewCam and click the Schedule Configuration icon. Step 2: Select the camera(s) you want to apply the recording schedule to, create a schedule and click Configure.

64 Step 3: Under the Mode menu, select Record on Motion.
Step 4: Under the Original Video view, click and drag to draw a box or multiple boxes to determine the area(s) that you want to monitor for motion. You can also use the sliders to determine the Sensitivity and Frame Interval for motion detection. Step 5. Click OK to close the Encoding Options and click OK again to close Schedule Configuration

65 Step 6: Click the Start Menu icon and click Start Recording Schedule.
A circle will appear in the top right corner of each camera configured for motion detection recording.

67 How do I set up scheduled recording in D-ViewCam
Step 1: Launch D-ViewCam and click the Schedule Configuration icon. Step 2: Select the camera(s) you want to apply the recording schedule to, then create a schedule and click the Configure icon.

68 Step 3: Under Mode, ensure Always Record is selected.
Step 4: Under the Time section, specify the time when you want the recording to occur and click OK. You can also determine how many seconds you wish Pre-record and Post-record for when motion is detected. Note: If you want to record audio, be sure to check the Record Audio box under the audio section. Step 5. Click OK to close the Encoding Options and click OK again to close Schedule Configuration.

69 Step 6: Click the Start Menu icon and click Start Recording Schedule.

70 Note: A red circle will appear in the top right corner of each camera with recording configured. This indicates that it is recording.

71 What are the system requirements for D-ViewCam 3.x
To ensure your D-ViewCam surveillance system can maintain high video monitoring and recording performance, certain minimum system configurations are required. Note: Recording video over a long period of time will consume large amounts of disk space. Make sure that you have enough disk space available if you want to use the recording function. You can still complete the installation even if you have less than the suggested free disk space, but your ability to save recordings will be limited to the available disk space remaining after installation.

72 Why can't I see the video from my camera on D-ViewCam
Issue:

73 FIX: Ensure that you have entered the correct IP address of your D-Link camera, along with the correct user name and password (if they have been configured). Also check that the camera is powered on, and that the connection between the camera and your network is functioning correctly. Step 1: Launch D-ViewCam and click General Settings > Setting > System Setting.

74 Step 2: Click on the Camera tab, select your camera, and click Config.

75 Step 3: Confirm the following:
•Correct IP address is entered •Correct User Name and Password •Correct Vendor and Model are selected Click OK The camera should now be displayed.

76 Why there is no sound on D-ViewCam recording playback
Step 1: Launch D-ViewCam and click the Schedule Configuration icon. Step 2: Click Configure.

77 Step 3: Check the Record Audio box and click OK.

78 Step 4: Click on the General Settings icon, go to Setting, and then click System Setting.

79 Step 5: Check the option “Enable Audio on Active Channel” and click OK.
