Disastrous Flooding Group: Ellen Brennan and Kelsey Blackall
Before the Flood protect yourself, Family, pets and property but most importantly your self and your family. Make sure you turn off all electricity appliances. Listen and check all weather reports so you have a slight idea when the flood will occur. Build a levee around the your house to try and stop the rush of the water as much as you can. If you have a loft in your house store food plenty of water, spare clothes, blankets, torches, candles and check your first aid kit. Store all chemicals away from the flood. Before the Flood
Don’t panic, stay where it is safest (high ground would be the best option). Stay well away from rushing water. Never drive, ride or walk through floodwater. Floodwater can be deeper and faster flowing than it appears. It can contain hidden snags and contaminants such as sewage, chemicals and dead animals. During the Flood
Make sure all your family is safe. Boil all water before you drink it. You need to do this because the water could be poisoned by chemicals and sewage. Start cleaning up the mess and make sure all animals are safe and sound After the Flood
