What is CCleaner ? CCleaner (formerly Crap Cleaner), developed in 2003 by Piriform is a donationware utility program for windows operating systems both 32 & 64 bit to remove potentially unwanted files. The program also includes a registry cleaner to locate and correct problems in the Registry.
Features CCleaner allows you to: Securely Delete Files Remove potentially unwanted files Remove unwanted Registry files Uninstall Programs Modify programs that run at start up Delete System Restore Points Wipe Hard Drives
Registry Cleaner The Registry Cleaner is used to locate and correct problems in the widows registry such as missing references to shared DLL’s, Unused registry entries for file extensions and missing references.
System Cleaner The system cleaner is used to remove unwanted files left by certain programs along with browsing history, cookies, Recycle Bin, memory dumps, file fragments, log files, system caches, application data and various other data.
Secure Deletion CCleaner is capable of secure file deletion to make files impossible to recover. Secure Deletion has 5 options available they are. Normal File Deletion Simple Overwrite (1 pass) DOD 5220.22-m (3 passes) NSA (7 passes) Gutmann (35 passes)
Startup Cleaner The Startup Cleaner is used to modify the programs that run during startup. They can either be Enabled, Disabled or Deleted
Drive Wiper The Drive Wiper allows the user to securely wipe either the only the free space or the contents of an Entire Drive.
