Presents Pictures at a Frigidaire [Look and Feel Notes: This piece has its own look and feel that follows the theme. Concept Notes: This piece follows the stages of a family’s financial life as depicted on a refrigerator door. As the family matures, the “scene” on the fridge (comprised of family photos, fridge letter and word magnets, magnetic doll characters and other typical “family art gallery” items) changes. These fanciful scenes or vignettes are animated by fridge magnet characters interacting with family snapshots, etc. Classical music that changes dramatically as each family fridge vignette changes plays in the background (maybe something like Mussorgsky’s Pictures at an Exhibition). As the piece opens, a wider kitchen scene appears, then zooms in on the fridge (or a section thereof). See more specific suggestions in each “vignette.” ]Pictures at an Exhibition

Beginnings: First Home [ Spell out “First Home” with Fridge Words near the top of the fridge.] [ Start with a picture of “Mom and Dad” before they were married wearing casual clothes walking along a beach hand-in- hand as boyfriend girlfriend (or maybe show them as magnetic fridge dress up characters). Show a wipe-off style message board with the hand-written note, “Jim, Brad with CapWest called. We’re approved! Love, Barb”magnetic fridge dress up characters A refrigerator magnet Cupid fires an arrow at Mom and Dad. New photos appear: Mom and Dad, just married, emerging from a church, Mom and Dad driving off in an old VW beetle, “Just Married” written on the back, shoes dragging along behind, and picture of Dad carrying Mom through the front door of their first “starter” home. Message on wipe-off board changes to, “Jim, I still do. Love, Barb.” ] 

Oops 1 and Oops 2 [ Time passes. The (same) fridge is showing some subtle signs of wear. The previous items look a little older and have moved from their previous locations. Message on wipe off board: “Jim. Things are a little tight all of a sudden. Can CapWest help? Love, Barb.” A new photo appears showing Mom and Dad, older, but still young, at a nicely-appointed dinner table enjoying a romantic dinner for two by candlelight with wine. The candles mysteriously go out. POOF! A new photo appears showing one child beside the table in a highchair (candles disappear), and POOF! another child appears (first child now seated at the table, tablecloth and fancy dishes replaced by ordinary dishes and kid stuff). Then, a “bills” magnet clip holding things like a mortgage payment schedule, bank statement, credit card bill, student loan statement, car loan payment book, etc. (need to show a pile of these so it looks like a big problem) appears. Show message on wipe-off board, “Jim, Please call Capwest about a Consolidation loan. Love, Barb” ] [ Spell out “Oops 1 and Oops 2” with kids magnetic letters.]kids magnetic letters 

Billy and Jilly Need More Room [ Show new photos of the family on an outing or two, Jilly in a school play. Show kids school pix (they’re about 2 years apart, so show three pictures of youngest, Jilly in K-2, 5 pix of Billy K-4). Grade card. “A” paper. The picture Billy drew of Dad’s car—after the wreck. Show photos of the kid’s room, inappropriately decorated for a 10-year-old, old crib stuck in the corner, bunk beds, mismatched dressers, kid stuff all crammed into a too-tight space. New message appears on message board, “Jim, Billy and Jilly need more room!!! Cash-out refi? Equity line? New home ? Call CapWest for help! Love, Barb” Show a photo or two of a new room addition under construction, then replace with a photo of the family in front of their “dream home.” ] [ Spell out “Billy and Jilly Need More Room” on a small magnetic blackboard.] 

Back to the Empty Nest [ Finally, reprise the images showing a selection of those shown in the first vignettes on a really nice double-door stainless steel fridge. Add photos of Jill and Bill graduating, off to college, Bill getting married, and a family portrait with Jim, Barb, Billy, Jilly, and a grandchild. ] [ Spell out “Billy and Jilly Need More Room” on a small magnetic blackboard.] 
