Welcome to Collaborate Moderator Training Kayla Steiner Instructional Technology Consultant Education Service Center Region XI firstname.lastname@example.org / 817-740-7659 July 18, 2012 1:30 - 3:30pm Before We Begin Audio/Microphone Setup Click the Audio Setup Wizard button at the top of the Audio-Video Window and follow wizard steps as provided Communicating with the Microphone Click the TALK button at the bottom of the Audio-Video Window to talk, click it again when finished talking to release the microphone (adjust volume with slider bars above button) Non-Spoken Communication To participate without speaking: - Use emoticons to communicate non-verbally - Respond to Polling questions with POLL tool - Draw on Whiteboard (when asked by presenter) with whiteboard tools at left side of whiteboard - Type responses in the CHAT panel at the bottom

Private/Moderator Chat will appear in separate tabs New Emoticon tool for Chat The Chat Panel Right-click on Participant’s Name to initiate private chat
Let’s Practice Select a chat emoticon that you feel best represents you and enter it in the chat Chat Emoticons
Let’s Practice Raise Your Hand If you have an ODD number below your name, send a private chat to the participant who’s number is 1 greater than your number. (1 send to 2, 3 send to 4, etc. If your number is largest, send to me) Right-click on Participant’s Name to initiate private chat
Importing Slides Click Load Content on the Collaboration Toolbar and Follow Import Directions Supported File Types to Load to the Whiteboard Image Files:.bmp,.gif,.jpg,.jpeg, and.png Presentation Files:.ppt,.pptx,.sxi, and.odp (PowerPoint and OpenOffice) Whiteboard Files:.wbd Protected Whiteboard Files:.wbp * PowerPoint program MUST be closed to import.ppt/.pptx

Loading Other Types of Content Media Files (MPEG video, QuickTime, Flash, Windows Media, MP3) - these audio and video file types will load into your Multimedia Library, and can be preloaded before your session begins To Access Multimedia Library - Click Window > Show Multimedia Library To Play Media click
Loading Other Types of Content Other File Types Document file types like spreadsheets, documents,.pdf files, etc, can also be loaded into your session. Documents will be transferred to participants with an option to save locally at the time of transfer.

Creating a Session Raise Your Hand Your login to practice setting up a session will be username= training# (your number from hand raise) password= collaborate When Web Tour begins – login at upper-right Toggle back to Collaborate and click CHECK (yes) when successfully logged in
Suggestions Practice, Practice, Practice Get coworkers to meet you in a practice room and explore the tools together Set up 2 computers and login both to see both presenter’s view and participant’s view Setup a Virtual Office (webinar with LONG duration – up to 1 year) to have impromptu meetings Reduce Distractions Find an isolated place to conduct webinars if possible Post signs during webinar to let others know you’re in a session Turn off email notify, send phone to voice mail, clear desktop, etc.
