2  Must have a job  Provide a letter from employer – example can be collected from ISFO  Must be registered in the SEVIS System  Must be a full time student  Should be in the US at least one month

4 1.Bring employer letter to ISFO and an advisor will co-sign it. 2.When the letter has been co-signed, you will collect it along with the SSN Instruction Sheet. The SSN application and Instruction sheet are also available at under the forms section. The mailing address on the SSN application will be your own personal address. The SSN will no longer come to ISFO!!!! 3.Take all of this to the SSN office in Elgin. Do not mail your application/documents to a Social Security Office.

5 You will need the originals and copies of the following:  Letter from employer co-signed by ISFO  Social Security Number Application  Available on the ISFO website under the forms section  Passport  Visa  I-94  I-20 or DS-2019  Student ID

6 Elgin Office – they recognize our letters and have been handling applications for our students for years. 790 Fletcher Drive Elgin, IL Office Hours: 9am to 3:00pm Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday 9 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Wednesday

7  Follow the same steps except for you will not have a letter  Apply and receive an official rejection letter stating you are ineligible for a SSN  The rejection letter will serve in the place of an SSN if you are ineligible for one.
