II. Why Do We Have to Learn? One night, a group of nomads were preparing to go to bed when suddenly they were surrounded by a great light. At once, they knew they were in the presence of a heavenly being. With great excitement, they awaited a heavenly message of great importance that they knew must be especially for them.

II. Why Do We Have to Learn? After the light faded, the nomads felt very disappointed and angry. They had expected to hear something great that would enable them to create wealth, health and purpose for the world. But instead they were given a task that made no sense to them at all. However, they did what they were told. Each of them picked up a few pebbles and put them in their bags while voicing their displeasure.
II. Why Do We Have to Learn? They traveled a day's journey and that night while making camp, they reached their bags and discovered every pebble they had gathered had become a diamond. They were glad that they had diamonds. They were sad that they had not gathered more pebbles. Back
When you are given a topic, how can you develop the topic into a paragraph ? Remember the first step is not writing, but thinking. The commonly used method is brainstorming. You may brainstorm according to the following steps.
1.Put down as many ideas as possible. 2.Cross out some ideas that cannot be connected with other ideas.
With these ideas, you can write 3-5 topic sentences on the topic. Next, choose the topic sentence that best describes the ideas you want to express in your paragraph. List the supporting ideas. Organize the supporting ideas.
Then read the list and cross out the unrelated ones. Write all the ideas in the list in complete sentences. Be sure to write the topic and supporting sentences in paragraph form.
Example : Topic: Why We Should Learn A. Brainstorming─ideas 1. to keep up with others 3. to get better grades 5. to please our parents 7. to spend time 2. to improve ourselves 4. to fulfill our dreams 6. to get into a good college 8. to survive the ever- changing world
