4 1935 September - official Nuremberg Laws Take away citizenship Forbid marriage/sex with non-Jews No right to vote Had to have 3-4 Jewish grandparents to classify as Jewish Can no longer go to hospitals No longer recognized in WWI memorials

5 ‘Aryanization’ Prevented from earning a living Have the register all assets Put Jewish businesses in to the hands of Germans By 1938 Jewish owned businesses cut by 2/3s

8 August 1938 Create measures to identify Jews more easily If you had a non-Jewish name you had to add ‘Israel’ or ‘Sara’ to your name Must have identity cards Yellow star comes after the invasion of Poland in 1939

9 Yellow star - why? From 8th century in Muslim countries Forced non-Islamics to wear a yellow star for identification Christian countries adopt the practice in the 12th century Hitler loves tradition to he adopts it too Varies from yellow star to a white armband
