John 20:31 - but these are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that believing you may have life in His name. AGNOSTICISM
7 What does the 1 st Commandment Forbid? Deism is the belief that God is creator. But has no interest in the affairs of this world. God is seen as a “master clock winder”. Does God care, intervene, step into our world? Does God answer prayer? Does God work in providential ways? DEISM
8 What does the 1 st Commandment Forbid? Many believe in a national God. Is God an American? Is God our race, tribe, nationality? Many view God as white, Anglo-Saxon, capitalist, of _________ political party. Does God support our causes, sports team, political views? HENOTHEISM

14 How does this commandment apply today? God demands undivided loyalty. We don’t have totem poles, icons, or statues in this building. But many have a divided loyalty – job, health, sport, family, money. Some will stay home from worship of God tonight to watch a football game.
15 Conclusion: God has rules. God requires undivided loyalty. Rule # 1 – God requires undivided loyalty. Our worship MUST focus on God. Our lives MUST focus on God.
