These things are good and profitable to men. let our people also learn to maintain good works Titus 3: And let our people also learn to maintain good works, to meet urgent needs, that they may not be unfruitful.
Why do you do what you do as a Christian? – To go to heaven? – To not go to hell? – To be seen of men? – To be seen by God? – To bear fruit? – To lay up treasure in heaven? Why? – To glorify God? – To please God? – Because you owe the Lord? – Because you love the Lord? – Because men hate you? – Because you love men?
see your good worksglorify your Father in heaven Matthew 5: Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven. do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who spitefully use you and persecute you, that you may be sons of your Father in heaven Matthew 5:44– But I say to you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who spitefully use you and persecute you, 45 that you may be sons of your Father in heaven; for He makes His sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust.
if you do good to those who do good to you, what credit is that to you? do good your reward will be great, and you will be sons of the Most High. Luke 6:32– But if you love those who love you, what credit is that to you? For even sinners love those who love them. 33 And if you do good to those who do good to you, what credit is that to you? For even sinners do the same. 34 And if you lend to those from whom you hope to receive back, what credit is that to you? For even sinners lend to sinners to receive as much back. 35 But love your enemies, do good, and lend, hoping for nothing in return; and your reward will be great, and you will be sons of the Most High. For He is kind to the unthankful and evil. 36 Therefore be merciful, just as your Father also is merciful.
For she has done a good work for Me. wherever this gospel is preached in the whole world, what this woman has done will also be told as a memorial to her. Matthew 26:6– And when Jesus was in Bethany at the house of Simon the leper, 7 a woman came to Him having an alabaster flask of very costly fragrant oil, and she poured it on His head as He sat at the table. 8 But when His disciples saw it, they were indignant, saying, “Why this waste? 9 For this fragrant oil might have been sold for much and given to the poor.” 10 But when Jesus was aware of it, He said to them, “Why do you trouble the woman? For she has done a good work for Me. 11 For you have the poor with you always, but Me you do not have always. 12 For in pouring this fragrant oil on My body, she did it for My burial. 13 Assuredly, I say to you, wherever this gospel is preached in the whole world, what this woman has done will also be told as a memorial to her.”
