GLORIFYING GOD

I Corinthians 6:19-20 “What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? (20) For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God’s.” Glorifying God

The body of Christ on earth is composed of local congregations. Ephesians 4:4 “There is one body…” Ephesians 1:22-23 “And hath put all things under his feet, and gave him to be the head over all things to the church, Which is his body, the fulness of him that filleth all in all.” Glorifying God

These congregations are guided by His word. II Timothy 3:16-17 “All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works.” Glorifying God

The church is successful when it glorifies God. If it fails to do so, it is unsuccessful. Regardless of how many members it has Regardless of how much money is given. What does God require the church to do to glorify Him? Bible gives four answers. Glorifying God

I.God is glorified when He is properly worshiped. The primary aim of worship is to praise, honor, & magnify the great name of Jehovah! When the church does this, it glorifies God. Glorifying God

I.God is glorified when He is properly worshiped. Revelation 4:10 “The four and twenty elders fall down before him that sat on the throne, and worship him that liveth for ever and ever, and cast their crowns before the throne, saying,” Glorifying God

I.God is glorified when He is properly worshiped. Revelation 4:11 “Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created.” Glorifying God

I.God is glorified when He is properly worshiped. Psalm 96:8-9 “Give unto the LORD the glory due unto his name: bring an offering, and come into his courts. O worship the LORD in the beauty of holiness: fear before him, all the earth.” Glorifying God

I.God is glorified when He is properly worshiped. When Christians sincerely worship in the manner prescribed, without modification God is glorified. When they fail to assemble & participate, His name is dishonored. Glorifying God

II. God is glorified when the needy are helped. Each congregation is to assist those who are suffering hardships. Ephesians 4:28 “Let him that stole steal no more: but rather let him labour, working with his hands the thing which is good, that he may have to give to him that needeth.” Glorifying God

II. God is glorified when the needy are helped. Each congregation is to assist those who are suffering hardships. Ephesians 4:28 “Let him that stole steal no more: but rather let him labour, working with his hands the thing which is good, that he may have to give to him that needeth.” Glorifying God

II. God is glorified when the needy are helped. When the church assists those truly in need God is glorified. Matthew 5:16 “Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.” Glorifying God

II. God is glorified when the needy are helped. We find the early Christians involved in benevolence. Acts 11:29 “Then the disciples, every man according to his ability, determined to send relief unto the brethren which dwelt in Judaea:” Glorifying God

II. God is glorified when the needy are helped. It is impossible to teach the gospel to a hungry person. II Corinthians 5:14 “For the love of Christ constraineth us…” God is glorified when we help those truly in need. Glorifying God

III. God is glorified when souls are saved. The church’s primary mission is the same as Christ’s work on earth. Luke 19:10 “For the Son of man is come to seek and to save that which was lost.” Glorifying God

III. God is glorified when souls are saved. Among the last thing Jesus did on earth was to say go. Mark 16:15 “And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.” Glorifying God

III. God is glorified when souls are saved. The seed must be sown to reap a harvest. Luke 8:11 “… The seed is the word of God.” Glorifying God

III. God is glorified when souls are saved. Each congregation is to be a missionary society, teaching & baptizing the lost. Thereby, glorifying The God of heaven in so doing. Glorifying God

IV. God is glorified when the saved are strengthened. The constant task of the local church is keeping the saved people from going back into the world. Romans 14:19 “Let us therefore follow after the things which make for peace, and things wherewith one may edify another.” Glorifying God

IV. God is glorified when the saved are strengthened. All are babes in Christ when they obey the gospel, and must grow. I Peter 2:2 “As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby:” Glorifying God

IV. God is glorified when the saved are strengthened. All need encouraging to remain faithful. Acts 14:22 (Paul & Barnabas) “Confirming the souls of the disciples, and exhorting them to continue in the faith, and that we must through much tribulation enter into the kingdom of God.” Glorifying God

In simple terms, the mission of our life is to glorify God, gain heaven, and help others to do likewise. The mission of the church is no different. Let’s carefully chart our course & wisely spend our energies glorifying God, it will pay great rewards in the end. Glorifying God

The four ways: 1.When He is properly worshiped 2.When the needy are helped 3.When souls are saved 4.When the saved are strengthened Are you in a saved relationship with God today? Glorifying God

To be saved one MUST obey the gospel. 1.Hearing God’s Word – Rom. 10:17 2.Believing in God & Christ – Heb. 11:6 3.Repenting of all sins – Luke 13:3 4.By confessing Christ – Acts 8:36-37 5.By being baptized – Acts 2:38 6.Remaining faithful – Rev. 2:10 Glorifying God
