The area consists largely of semi-arid land, that is popular for its natural flora, with the flower route being one of the main tourism initiatives of the area. The undeveloped nature and climate of the area makes it ideal for star-gazing The climate of the area gives it a competitive advantage for renewal energy generation ability to make development sustainable—to ensure that it meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs” Brundtland Commission. “
