Seven Grace – Full Blessings As Presented by Lura J Cayton Disaster Response and Recovery Liaison

7 Grace-ful Blessings of an Active God By God’s Grace we are more than what we have or what we do By God’s Grace a disaster does not test us beyond our ability to withstand By God’s Grace we can take charge - or we can let go By God’s Grace we can breathe in as well as out By God’s Grace we learn the blessing of receiving By God’s Grace through a disaster we learn how to give even more faithfully By God’s Grace all things can work together for good for those who love God Gary Harbaugh

By God’s Grace we are more than what we have or what we do What we have or what we do can be gone in a moment Our worth is not determined by possessions or occupation We are valued and loved because we are

By God’s Grace a disaster does not test us beyond our ability to withstand Or, By God’s Grace we do not have to face the disaster alone. By definition, a disaster is beyond our ability to handle it alone Affirmation that we do not have to handle it alone

By God’s Grace we can take charge - or we can let go Culturally, Recovery is taking charge and regaining control as fast as possible Sometimes what is needed is to let go Facing the reality of how long recovery may take – almost always takes longer than we think it will Let go and take one day at a time

By God’s Grace we can breathe in as well as out Charge full steam ahead – leads exhaustion if not to burnout Pace ourselves and become open to receiving help that is offered to us

By God’s Grace we learn the blessing of receiving “There are so many worse off, go help them” “I’m doing just fine.” Others have gifts and talents to offer and need to share Interdependence

By God’s Grace through a disaster we learn how to give even more faithfully Well-meaning volunteers do not understand the kind of help that is needed Start with what is most important to the person in need Balance between task and support Sensitivity to the person and situation

By God’s Grace all things can work together for good for those who love God What we see depends on what we look at and how we look at it. Onions become Orchids Increased coping skills, resilience, ability to prioritize Opportunities that weren’t present before.
