2 Department of Mechanics Politecnico di Torino 2 About us Politecnico di Torino is one of the main universities in Italy and in Europe in the field of technical-scientific training, in Engineering and Architectural research. The Politecnico has students studying on 116 courses (34 Bachelor's degree courses; 35 Master of Science courses; 20 Doctorates and 27 specialization courses). The Department of Mechanics (DIMEC) promotes, coordinates and manages the teaching, research and consulting activities in the fields of functional and structural design, testing of mechanical devices and systems, their application, evolution and integration into complex systems

3 Department of Mechanics Politecnico di Torino 3 Tests & numerical simulation One important field of interest for our research is the thermo and dynamic (under shock and impact) characterization of materials and structures and the numerical modeling in such conditions. We have many devices for the experimental characterization of materials under shock and impacts and some competences in numerical code.
