3 Causes of Great Depression
Recession of 1929 caused by a fall in spending - Recession – a significant decline in economic activity - Fall in demand for durable goods = expensive and last; Example: House, Car - Businesses cut back production = workers lose jobs = no $ = no spending

4 Causes of Great Depression
Stock Market Crash of October 24th 1929 - Corporations sold and people invested in stocks (having a share in the company) - During the 1920s stocks were profitable because businesses were growing - With the Recession stocks began to loose value as a result there was a rush to sell stocks

5 Causes of Great Depression
Chaos in the banking system - banks tried to collect on loans made to stockmarket inventors but their stocks had little to no value - when word spread that banks could not collect depositors rushed to withdrawal their savings
