2  Harvesting involves collecting material that is above ground or close to the surface.  Peat and wood are harvested materials.

3  Peat is made from decayed plant matter. It is burned for energy and forms in bogs and wetlands. Peat is not as widely used as it used to be.

4  Mining involves digging deep into the ground. Resources that we mine include rocks, minerals and coal.
