3 Project Objectives Establish a theatre workshop Develop personal professional skills by establishing and running the company Research marketing in the industry by seeking advice from industry professionals Design and deliver a relevant workshop for Level 3 and HND performers Develop a network of contacts in the industry Evaluate the workshop and own learning

4 Youth in Action Youth in action offers a range of opportunities for young people and those working in the youth sector. It is funded by the European Union Youth in action offers grants to enable organisations to bring young people and decision makers to discuss and shape the future direction on a number of issues.

5 The Glass Umbrella Theatre Company The Glass Umbrella Theatre Company was founded in early 2011 as an independent student led endeavour from SERC’s performing arts department. The company opened with the highly successful ‘A Chorus Line’ that attracted audiences from across Northern Ireland. Other productions produced have included ‘Alice’, ‘Vernon God Little’, and ‘Blame it on the Boogie’.

6 Marketing workshop with Kabosh We had learnt how to market the The Glass Umbrella Theatre Company and ourselves We came up with our own Aims and Objectives for a marketing plan, such as to increase the Awareness of the Glass Umbrella Theatre Company and to diversify audiences through social media We also came up with a mission statement, which is used to promote and give information on the Glass Umbrella Theatre Company

7 Our Mission Statement The Glass Umbrella Theatre Company is a student run company founded in 2011 under the SERC Performing Arts course. The company endeavours to provide a wide range of performances from devised and classical to site specific theatre.

8 Social media We have set up a Twitter & Facebook account which we update daily about our up coming shows and let everyone know what we are up to We have 116 likes on facebook and 707 followers on our Twitter With our workshop at Kabosh we were given ideas on how to raise our profile on social media

9 Mailing List MailChimp is an email marketing service provider that GUTC uses to inform our Mailing list about our upcoming performances. We send e-zines out to our 345 mailing list members to update them about the company’s work

14 Finally the Blueprint We will create a blueprint which will be left behind for HND next year, within the blueprint we will leave behind all information we have collected. We have learnt how to market the company and also ourselves as performers; this information is very valuable to help our company grow. We are a unique company, as were student lead we are the first of its kind and this gives us our competitive edge.
