33333 Introduction t Concept of the time value of money is very important especially when interest rates are high and/or time periods are long. t Simply put--You are not indifferent as to when you receive or pay an identical sum of money. That is, a dollar received or paid today (the present) is not worth a dollar received or paid tomorrow (the future). t Someone owes you, a rational person, $100. They say to you--Which would you prefer: I pay you $100 today or I pay you $100 one year from now?
