Problems of the Operation when managing Sewage and Wastewater Treatment Plant - So far there are no wastewater treatment plants in our country, the outlets of the primary sewer network are into storage basins in Phnom Penh which are used as treatment plants. - The problem of storage basins mainly lies with thier progressire filling by silt and other solids brought in through the combined sewer system, direct runoff on street surface during flooding and sludge from septic tanks.
- Municipality wastewater is primarily disposed of through a network of sewage drainage pipes that empty into retention basins known as Beong. - The wastewater in the basin is later pumped into rivers and lakes. In Phnom Penh, for example, there is a network of sewage/drainage pipes and 11 pumping station covering the 6 main catchment areas: Beong Trabek, Beonk Salang, the Khmero Russian Hospital vicinity, Daun Penh New front of Basac, and Toul Kok.

CONSTRUCTION AND OPERATION OF SEWAGE Sewage and Wastewater Treatment Facility Sewage and Wastewater Treatment Facility - Sewer network had been constructed until the end of 1960s with city development during this period, numerous channels and ditches were filled up and converted to sewer pipes. - The sewer network is now managed by DPWT. - The existing combined drainage and sewerage system consists of 150km of pipes network. 9km of canals, 4 retention basin and 11 pumping station, and covers 24km 2 of inner dike area in Phnom Penh. The Drainage and sewerage system, due to absent of regular maintenance for 25 year, is in a bad condition and needs urgent attention.
- Drainage and sewage Division of DPWT is in charge of operation and maintenance of the drainage pumping stations in the municipality of Phnom Penh. - Major repair of equipment in dry season. - Daily operation records includes the number of installed pumps, water level at pumping station. - Operation time (Start, End ) - Number of Pump working / broken.
