Community engagement The ABC’s of Community Engagement (aka Recruiting): A- Always be in a recruiting state of mind—like your hair is on fire. B- B ond with your parents. C- c ommunicate
Community engagement Current landscape: ◦Competition is fierce. ◦Parents know how to play the game. ◦Most marketing platforms start to look and sound the same. ◦Incentives are becoming high ticket items (tablets, giftcards, cars, laptops, etc.) ◦Recruiting becomes an everyday occurrence—like taking attendance. ◦Parents have options. (Lots of them!)
COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT Oper ate a great school Advertise locally Social media is a must (FB, Twitter, etc.) Parent as the Ambassador for the school totally focused on engaging new parents. Signage in/around the school site Deploy yard signs Car/bus magnets Collaborating with the local community: (parades, park events, fairs, etc.) Speaking engagements at civic, educational opportunities Cautiously engage the faith-based community Forge a relationship with the educational reporter in the local press Daily updates to the school website! Parent testimonies Clean school environment (inside and out) Grab speaking engagements on radio/tv talk shows Promote the ROI of your school. Strive to be a paperless school. This will engage parents in the use of technology and its effectiveness with classrooms. Parents Meetings with a Purpose! Incorporate students to help facilitate the agenda.
