Delayed Coker Unit Savings Best Practice

Delayed Coker Heater Tube Skin Temperatures. Delayed Cooker Units have heaters with tube skin thermocouples used to avoid over heating the tubes Multiple temperature readings avoid localized overheating, coking and tube failure Previously thermocouples failed or drifted over time Reliable thermocouples enable one to make burner adjustments and clean burners to extend heater cycle

Current Solutions are costly! Costs to deal with coking in tubes can exceed $3 million per occurrence due to lost production during spalling and can happen several times per year Running heaters at optimum conditions with better temperature accuracy increases run length between spalls by several months

Our Results in service Large international energy company, installed 144 ExL thermocouples on 2 DCU heaters at one of their Texas refineries in March 2007 All thermocouples have been 100% operational since March 2007 These readings resulted in extended run length No drift, failures, or other issues

Estimated Savings Total cost to purchase & install: $1,000,000 Savings so far: $3,000,000+

Summary ExL Sensors made with Mi-Dry insulation have proven superior in our application Call AccuTru Sensor Technologies for application assistance www.accutru.com 281.358.5600
