2. A Brief History of the Bunsen Burner The Bunsen Burner was invented in 1855 by Robert Bunsen who was a German chemist and teacher. He invented the Bunsen Burner because he thought it would help him with chemistry. Peter Desaga was at the University of Heidelberg with Robert Bunsen and he helped him create the Bunsen Burner.

4. How do you use a Bunsen Burner? A Bunsen Burner is a device used in Science Laboratories and it is used for heating liquids and other things. Here are some steps to show you how to use a Bunsen Burner. 1. First you gather up all your equipment like safety goggles, Gauze, a tripod, the Bunsen burner, heat proof mat, tongs, a beaker with room temperature water, thermometer and a splint. 2. Next you have to turn the gas on and light the Bunsen Burner with the splint. 3. Turn the setting of the Bunsen Burner to the roaring flame and place the gauze on top. 4. Put the beaker with room temperature water on top of the gauze and put the thermometer in the water. 5. You will see how fast the temperature rises because the water is so hot.

6. Safety Tips for when you use the Bunsen Burner 1. When you are using the Bunsen burner you always have to wear you’re wearing your safety goggles because it will protect your eyes. 2. If you have long hair you have to tie it up or it will probably catch on fire. 3. Don’t wear things that dangle like: bracelets and necklaces. 4. The last safety tip is to always be careful not to touch anything that is hot because it can burn you very badly. When you are picking things up like boiling water you should always use tongs so you don’t burn your fingers.
